Trainee Exchange

Supervised practical training forms a part of each degree programmes (30 – 120 credits depending on the degree programme and option). Its aim is to familiarise students with their own professional field and give them the possibility to apply the acquired into practice.

Practical training may also be completed abroad. If students aim for international labour markets, a practical period abroad gives the student a slight advantage and maybe students will be more inclined to seek employment abroad after graduation.

In addition to work experience, the students gain international experience when working in a new culture while increasing their language skills. Successfully completed supervised practical training abroad is fully accredited into the degree programme at PIRAMK University of Applied Sciences.

Primarily students organise their own training abroad. Available training placements are regularly announced on the bulletin board of PIRAMK intranet. The teachers in charge of training placements within degree programmes and the international office can offer assistance if no placement can be found.

Applications for training abroad should be returned to the International Office by 31st May (for the following autumn), 30th November (for the following spring) and 28th February (for the following summer). Applications submitted by the abovementioned deadlines are prioritised when issuing grants for outgoing trainees.

A joint orientation session is arranged annually for all outgoing trainees from all the local universities. Students also complete a virtual course in preparation for the training period and submit a learning report after the exchange.

More information: outgoing.students@piramk.fi. The student, the training organisation and the supervising teacher at PIRAMK must sign an agreement before the training abroad can be accepted.
