Pedagogical Strategy
The pedagogical strategy of PIRAMK University of Applied Sciences takes
a closer stand on learning, implementation of education and expert knowledge
and skills created as a result of university of applied
sciences studies. The pedagogical strategy consists of nine strategic
objectives and related descriptions, which have been condensed below.
1. Students develop to innovative experts
To attain the target, it is important that the student develops in learning and
learns to create practical knowledge which functions as the basis of
solutions.
2. Education is implemented according to investigative work approach
3. Students learn to produce practical information
Investigative work approach and the ability to produce practical information
are combined in activities. To follow the investigative work approach, it is
important to learn problem solving, information acquisition, cooperation and
interaction skills. In considering the methodological solutions of teaching,
the knowledge and skills required by the investigative work approach and
production of practical information are taken into consideration.
4. Studying is implemented in a working life –oriented
manner
When constructing and revising the degree programmes and curricula, the future
needs of the society and working life are analysed and taken into consideration
in the objectives of curricula and implementation of education. Representatives
of working life always participate in the curricular development and feedback
is regularly collected from working life.
5. Studying is implemented by using multidisciplinary and
multiprofessional approach
The aim is to provide students with abilities in working as experts of their
own field in cooperation with experts of other fields. To achieve this,
multiprofessional work is also made possible in the implementation of education
through different kinds of projects and bachelor´s theses.
6. Learning environment is flexible and open
Diversified teaching methods are used in education and diverse learning
possibilities are created. Web-based teaching is developed to support
education.
7. Internationality and multiculturalism are significant parts of
studies
Internationality becomes a part of education and learning in all fields of
study both on the attitude and operational level.
8. Development of students´ personality, individuality and
communality are taken into account in education and studying
During the studies, development of self-respect and strong professional
identity are promoted especially by giving individual feedback. In addition to
individuality, the emphasis is also on communality, social interaction and
taking other people into consideration.
9. Students become self-directive and active
The studies support and emphasise students´ own active participation in
the learning process. Students are supported in gradually taking more and more
responsibility for their own learning so that they develop in the planning,
implementation and evaluation of their own learning. Students are helped in
identifying the best ways to learn and evaluate their own learning. E.g. the
student and teacher tutors as well as the subject teachers support students in
this.
