Enrolment for Attendance or Non-attendance

Enrolment for the Academic Year 2008-2009 | Rights of Students Who Have Enrolled for Attendance or Non-attendance | Dereliction of the Enrolment Obligation

To maintain their study entitlement, students have to enrol every academic year either for non-attendance or attendance. The duty to enrol concerns every student in the degree-awarding youth or adult education as well as students in the postgraduate degree programme.

Enrolment has to be done by using the WINHA student interface. When enrolling for attendance/non-attendance, students should check the WinhaWille student register to ensure that their address and personal information are correct and make the necessary changes.

The study office of the school should be informed of changes in the place of domicile as well as of other changes which students are unable to make in WinhaWille themselves.

Enrolment for the Academic Year 2008-2009

The student enrols either for
- attendance for the whole academic year or
- non-attendance for the whole academic year or
- attendance for the autumn semester and non-attendance for the spring semester or
- non-attendance for the autumn semester and attendance for the spring semester

Continuing Students
Continuing students enrol for attendance or non-attendance through WinhaWille between 1 March and 30 June 2008. The students have the right to change their enrolment for the spring semester 2008 through WinhaWille between 1 and 30 November 2008. Students for whose study entitlement the president of PIRAMK has granted extension time are enrolled for attendance automatically and cannot enrol for non-attendance.

First Year Students Beginning Their Studies in the Autumn Semester 2008

They have the possibility to change their enrolment for the spring semester 2008 through WinhaWille between 1 and 30 November 2007.

Rights of Students Who Have Enrolled for Attendance or Non-attendance

Enrolment for attendance guarantees that the student:
- may enrol on courses and participate in them
- may enrol on exams and participate in them
- may have guidance in preparing their bachelor’s thesis
- may participate in practical training and student exchange
- is entitled to general student benefits
- is entitled to the benefits of the student union membership (e.g. travel discounts)

Students enrolled for non-attendance may not attend any activity related to studies at PIRAMK during their period of absence. Students enrolled for non-attendance have no right to student financial aid, meal subsidy or benefits of the student union membership (e.g. travel discounts).

Students have the right to be absent for a total of two academic years. The absence does not have to be continuous.

Periods of absence are not counted into the overall study time. If the study entitlement period has been extended, students may not enrol for non-attendance.

Students using the possibility to enrol for non-attendance have to take into consideration that absence may cause some problems when continuing their studies. The supply of certain courses may have been changed, the degree programme may have been totally discontinued or may only be offered after several years.

After absences, students should check their personal study plan with their tutor teacher or equivalent.

Dereliction of the Enrolment Obligation

Students who have neglected their enrolment obligation lose their study entitlement. Students may apply for the study entitlement to be restored from the beginning of the following semester at the earliest if it has been lost as a result of dereliction of the enrolment obligation. The decision on restoring the study entitlement is made by the president of PIRAMK.
