Sport Facilities in the City of Tampere
Tampere is an active city with modern sports and exercise facilities. These high-class facilities and the ability of the local people to organize first-class sports events have brought several international sports competitions to Tampere. International competitions (e.g. Tammer Tournament and Delfin Basket) are held in Tampere every year.
The Kauppi Sports Park (Kaupin urheilupuisto) e.g. offers a large park and forest area with soccer fields, archery and rifle ranges, a bowling alley, tennis courts, jogging trails (with lighting in the evening, converted to cross country skiing tracks during the winter).
There are slopes for downhill skiing and snowboarding in Hervanta and Mustavuori.
Students are entitled to special discounts in the public indoor swimming pools (uimahalli). There are three indoor swimming pools in Tampere:
Tampere Swimming Centre (Tampereen uintikeskus), Joukahaisenkatu 7 (in Kaleva)
Hervanta Swimming Pool (Hervannan uimahalli), Torisevanraitti 7
Tesoma Swimming Pool (Tesoman uimahalli), Tuomarinkatu 7
Students can use the Tampere City Transport’s travel card for paying the swimming pool entrance fee.
Other major outdoor sport centres include Tampere Stadium, Tammela Football Stadium, Pyynikki Athletics Field and Kaukajärvi Rowing and Canoeing Centre.
Major indoor sport centres include e.g.:
Pirkkahalli - An athletics and football centre. Functions also as a venue for fairs and meetings.
Nääshalli - Boxing, weight lifting, fencing, judo, table tennis, gymnastics.
Kaukajärvi Leisure Centre (Kaukajärven vapaa-aikatalo) - Indoor ball games, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics.
Hervanta Leisure Centre (Hervannan vapaa-aikakeskus) - Indoor ball games, billiards, table tennis, ballet, gymnastics.
Tampere Ice Stadium (Tampereen jäähalli) - Tampere Ice Stadium was the first ice stadium in Finland. In addition to Ice Hockey World Championships, this stadium has been the venue for volleyball, wrestling and boxing championships at international level. Fairs, concerts and other large-scale public events are also held at Tampere Ice Stadium, seating 8,070 spectators.

Sport Facilities in the Town of Mänttä
Sport activities are available e.g. at the swimming hall, ice stadium, bowling alley, shooting range, riding stables and tennis court. Mäntänvuori Nature Reserve and beaches and boating on Keurusselkä Lake offer a wide choice of activities close to nature. Mäntänvuori Nature Reserve near the town centre is suitable for outdoor recreation both in summer and in winter.

Sport Facilities in the Town of Ikaalinen
There are many hiking/jogging rings in Ikaalinen. Also tennis and golf are provided. There are many recreation and sport possibilities in Ikaalinen Spa, including squash, tennis, gym, golf and ski centre. Ikaalinen has many ice hockey playing and skating areas. The school of Pirkanmaa Polytechnic - University of Applied Sciences in Ikaalinen has a gym too. There are also camping areas and beaches in Ikaalinen. Sport Facilities in the Town of Virrat
There are an indoor skating rink, sports centre and exercise hall for gym and squash. The ski centre Pukkivuori is located in Virrat. Many hiking and camping possibilities and beach with inland water harbour.
