Payphones | Mobile Phones | International and National Calls | Internet
Finland is famous for its mobile phones and Internet connections: a mobile phone is as common as a wrist watch and over 75% of the population uses computer.
Payphones
In Finland it is almost impossible to find payphones nowadays when almost everyone has his/her own mobile phone.
Payphones take 50 cent, 1 EUR and 2 EUR coins or more often these days operate with telephone cards. The telephone card costs about 6-20 EUR. The cards can be bought for example in R-kiosks.

Mobile Phones
Mobile phones (matkapuhelin or kännykkä) are very common in Finland, as you will come to notice. The phones and connections are sold separately and so it is easy to buy a mobile connection card to your phone.
The nationwide network operators offer prepaid cards that are very popular among young people (and recommended for exchange students). The cards can be bought in almost all places that sell mobile phones, but the easiest place to get one is the R-kiosk. Prepaid mobile phone card means that the calling time is already paid; you will not have telephone bills or any monthly or user payments.
