2.1 Student admission and acceptance of study place
The board of Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences decides on student admission criteria. Student ad-mission is implemented by means of the joint application system. The director of education confirms the en-trance examination results. The vice president in charge of education decides on the acceptance of students on the director of education´s proposal.
Accepted students have to bindingly inform Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences whether they accept the study place by the date defined by the Ministry of Education. The vice president in charge of education decides on any potential changes of accepted study places on the head of student services´ proposal.
Applicants may in written apply for a correction to the student admission decision from the board of Pirkan-maa University of Applied Sciences in 14 days after the admission results have been published.

2.2 Intake of transfer students
Students of another university of applied sciences may be accepted to transfer students if they have a valid study entitlement and have completed enough studies in consideration of the used study time. Students may only transfer to Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences to complete the same degree/ title in the same or equivalent degree programme if there are free study places in the degree programme. The student must send the filled transfer application form with appendixes to the admissions office of Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences by the end of April in the spring and by the end of November in the autumn. The transfer student is interviewed before making the decision. The vice president in charge of education decides on the acceptance of transfer students on the director of education´s proposal. After being accepted to Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences, the student has to bring the notice of resignation from the initial university of applied sciences to the study office of Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences within the prescribed time stated in the decision.
Students may only accept one study place in higher education starting in the same academic year.

2.3 Selection of option
The option is selected during the second study year at the latest in degree programmes where students have to select an option. If all applicants cannot be admitted to an option, study success in the university of applied sciences studies is used as the admission criterion. The director of education decides on the selections on the education manager´s/education coordinator´s proposal.

2.4 Selection of optional professional studies
If more students enrol on optional professional studies than can be accepted, students´ study performances and study success are decisive for the selection order. The education manager or education coordinator accepts students to optional professional studies on the teacher in charge´s proposal.

2.5 Change of degree programme, option or unit
The student can apply for the change of the option or unit in his/ her own degree programme. The prerequi-sites for the change of the option are that the student has the abilities needed in the new option and that the option can take new students. The prerequisite for changing the unit is that the unit can take new students. The vice president in charge of education decides on the change of the option and unit on the director of education´s proposal.
According to the one-place-per-student principle in higher education, the option may not be changed inside the higher education institution during the first academic year if it has been directly applied for.
The change of the degree programme in the same field of study is possible for a specific reason on the president´s decision.
Change of the field of study requires normal application procedure.

2.6 Intake of exchange students
Exchange students are only accepted from the higher education institutions abroad with which Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences has a valid agreement.
Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences does not accept exchange students who cannot be offered the requested studies. In addition, degree programmes can set further requirements before acceptance. Exchange students are on application accepted by the director of education and head of international affairs on the proposal of the education manager or education coordinator.
