5.1 Information dissemination to students
Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences uses electronic communication channels, such as email, study administration system Winha, Moodle web-based learning environment and intranet, in information dissemination to students. Students have the obligation to follow the above-mentioned communication channels dur-ing their studies.
Students have the obligation to keep their contact addresses up-to-date during their whole study time.
5.2 Obstacle-free learning and operating environment
Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences commits itself to promote obstacle-free higher education studying as required by the Non-Discrimination Act. Students´ individual abilities in completion of studies are considered in organisation of education and supervision of learning if possible.
Special arrangements enabling obstacle-free studying are entered to the student´s personal study plan in accordance with the instructions in the quality manual.

5.3 Behaviour and disciplinary measures
Students have to behave appropriately in Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences. Use of intoxicants and intoxication are forbidden in study related activities.
If a student makes himself/herself guilty of a fraud in an examination, the supervisor asks him/her to leave the examination session immediately and the examination will be failed.
Copying of assignments, theses and other ready study performances or material to own study performances is forbidden. The study performance is failed if fraud is detected.
Students who have made themselves guilty of a fraud or otherwise violated the order in Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences may be disciplined depending on the severity of the offence either with a warning or by expelling the student for a year at the most. Before deciding the student has to be given the opportunity to be heard. The president decides on warnings and the board of Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences on expelling.

5.4 Financial aid committee
The financial aid committee of Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences, selected for a term of two years at a time, comprises four representatives of the personnel, four student representatives and a secretary.
The duties of the financial aid committee are according to the Student Financial Aid Act 9 a §
1) to follow the progress of studies and to provide KELA with statements, either spontaneously, at the request of KELA or at the request of the student regarding the progress of studies;
2) to determine the adequate extent of studies completed in the summertime and to provide statements for KELA in individual cases;
3) to determine the adequate extent of studies completed abroad outside student exchange programmes and to provide statements for KELA in individual cases;
4) to provide statements at the request of KELA or the student on whether the graduated who has been granted government loan guarantee is entitled to student loan tax deduction;
5) to provide statements either spontaneously or at the request of the student on whether the maximum eli-gibility period of student financial aid may be extended as prescribed in the Student Financial Aid Act 7 a § when the student has received student financial aid for the maximum period.

5.5 Student body
PAKO is the statutory and uncommitted student body of Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences. Students of Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences have established the student body to attend to their common interests. In addition, it selects student representatives to the board of the university of applied sciences and other multi-member organs and acts as a means of communication between the students and the administration of the university of applied sciences. Supervision of interests focuses on educational and social policy affairs.

5.6 Becoming effective
These degree regulations become effective on 1st August 2008 and supersede the previous degree regulations which took effect on 30th January 2004. The degree regulations are applied to all students immediately after they have become effective.
